A 16 year old Fond du Lac boy is in custody after crashing a stolen vehicle following a high speed chase. At 4am Tuesday Fond du Lac police received a call from a resident who said his car had been stolen. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle on 10th street minutes after it had been reported stolen. The suspect vehicle led police on a short pursuit before crashing into a tree at the intersection of 4th Street and Fond du Lac Ave. The driver fled on foot and was apprehended with the help of a police K9. The driver was identified as a 16 year old male from the City of Fond du Lac. He is being charged with knowingly fleeing an officer, operate a vehicle without owner’s consent, and obstructing an officer.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
