The American Red Cross Wisconsin Chapter is again making an urgent plea for blood donations to avoid a severe blood shortage in the state. Red Cross spokeswoman Laura McGuire says more than a hundred blood drives in Wisconsin have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. “in Wisconsin 118 blood drives were cancelled with about 4500 blood donations being uncollected,” McGuire told WFDL news. “Now is the time to really step up.” McGuire reminds people that safety measures are in place at donation centers and blood drives.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
