MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Tony Evers isn’t saying how his safer-at-home order to slow the coronavirus might apply to Wisconsin’s spring election. Evers issued the order prohibiting nonessential travel Tuesday morning. It contains extensive exemptions but doesn’t mention the April 7 election. Asked during conference call with reporters Tuesday afternoon whether it in effect prohibits in-person voting, Evers responded that his adminstration is “working hard to understand the issues of what’s happening on April 7. Voting advocacy groups and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett are pressing Evers to end in-person voting and conduct the election exclusively by mail-in absentee ballots.
