Nobody was injured following a natural gas leak in Waupun. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says crews were paged out shortly after 7am Thursday to 315 south Madison street near the Waupun prison after a construction crew struck a gas main. DeMaa says 15 homes in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution. The leak was repaired a couple hours later.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
