Nobody was injured and only minor damage was reported in separate structure fires Sunday afternoon in Fond du Lac County caused by controlled burns that got out of control. A town of Byron resident on Highway Y used a garden hose to extinguish a fire that spread to a garage. And a couple hours later another controlled burn spread to a small tool shed at a residence on Mill Pond Road in the town of Auburn.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
