Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says he thinks the state is at a breaking point when it comes to the governor’s Safer at Home order. The governor announced Thursday he was extending the order for a month. Thiesfeldt says the state is at a point where we have to start evaluating how much longer we can do this. “There obviously has to be a plan for re-opening because we have reached the point here where I believe the cure is becoming worse than the disease,” Thiesfeldt told WFDL news. Thiesfeldt says it’s starting to become a self-defeating purpose because medical staff is being laid off. “We have flattened the curve. The point of flattening the curve was to get our medical facilities ready, and I believe our medical facilities are pretty much at that point. But now it’s starting to become a self-defeating purpose because we have hospitals that are actually laying off medical staff.” Public health officials say the point of flattening the curve is to save lies and buy time for the development of vaccines and treatment. The idea of flattening the curve is to stagger the number of new cases over a longer period, so that people have better access to care.
