The Dodge County Sheriff is asking governor Tony Evers to reconsider extending the Safer at Home order and begin gradually re-opening the economy. In a letter to the governor Sheriff Dale Schmidt says families are suffering and have been left with little hope. Schmidt says relaxing the restrictions with common sense in mind will provide that hope. Schmidt says he believes the governor is in the minority in his position to keep the state closed through the end of May. Schmidt says he is also asking the governor to end those orders that infringe on the constitutional rights afforded to our citizens.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
