Charter Communications says as an ongoing commitment to it’s employees there will be no layoffs or furloughs for at least the next 60 days. Charter says it is making this commitment to reassure employees during this unprecedented time and follows earlier action to permanently increase wages for all hourly workers from $15 to $20 over the next two years. The company is also announced several other benefits including providing three weeks of COVID-19 related Flex Time in addition to any paid administrative leave due to COVID-19 exposure. Charter says their employees are providing the critical services that allow for uninterrupted internet, telephone and TV news for more than 29 million customers, including lifeline institutions like hospitals, first responders and government facilities.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
