The Fond du Lac Area United Way is encouraging residents to donate to the COVID-19 Critical Needs Fund to support those affected by COVID-19. United Way executive director Amber Kilawee says the fund was launched about four weeks ago and to date has raised approximately $20,000. Kilawee says thanks to the Horicon Bank, 100 percent of the fund will be invested back into the community. A new universal tax break for charitable donations is included in the COVID-19 stimulus package recently signed into law.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
