Fond du Lac city and county leaders hope a local task force can help provide direction to help local businesses plan for reopening when a Safer at Home order is lifted. The task force, under the direction of Envision Greater Fond du lac, holds it’s first meeting Friday afternoon. Fond du Lac city manager Joe Moore says the group will be comprised of between 20 to 30 individuals in the private sector, healthcare, education and government. “I think what this group Envision is putting together will help people understand, especially people in business, is what does gatherings of ten look like if you’re in a floral shop, restaurant, coffee shop? There’s a whole lot of things to think about,” Moore told WFDL news. “I think getting people together to talk about it will help them help themselves figure that out.” Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel the task force will examine how a business can open and what type of restrictions would need to be in place.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
