Alliance Laundry Systems officials say a shutdown of the plant is not related to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. Ripon’s largest employer says it will shut down for two weeks beginning Monday. The plant was open this week after being shut down the previous two weeks. An Alliance spokesperson says the shutdown is in response to supply chain constraints and demand and has nothing to do with an employee who recently tested positive for the virus. The plant employs about 1,900 people in Ripon.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
