A Republican lawmaker from Fond du Lac says he believes governor Tony Evers should be including the legislature in his decisions to issue emergency orders regarding COVID-19. Republican leaders last week filed a lawsuit with the state Supreme Court arguing the governor overstepped his administrative powers when extending the order. “It isn’t necessarily that we have a problem with the order. We have a problem that we have not been at the table,” state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt told WFDL news. Thiesfeldt says just because the governor is invoking emergency powers doesn’t mean he should ignore the legislature. Evers says it’s a political power grab, and said he is saddened by the Republican’s response.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
