The Wisconsin Department of Tourism secretary-designee says Wisconsin residents can honor the Safer at Home order and still find adventure and support communities during the covid-19 outbreak. Sarah Meaney says travelers can find resources and virtual adventures at TravelWisconsin.com. Meaney says SlowTV is launching this month, a series of videos featuring Wisconsin airing on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram TV. She says residents can also gather around a “virtual campfire” hosted on the department’s social channels. Meaney says to kick off summer there will be a series of enter to win sweepstakes at TravelWisconsin.com. Meaney says tourism has a nearly $35 billion impact in Wisconsin in sales and spending, providing 199,000 jobs.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
