todayApril 29, 2020

Bail has been set at $200,000 cash for a North Fond du lac man accused of setting nine fires in Fond du Lac County dating back to last September.   Forty three year old Michael Miller made his initial court appearance Tuesday on 27 counts including arson, criminal damage to property , burglary and five counts of possession of child pornography.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says Miller was arrested after investigators received a tip following several fires in North Fond du Lac and the town of Friendship in March, and learned he was involved in other fires dating back to last September.  “In my history here, 22 years at the Sheriff’s Office, I think this is probably the most significant as far as number of fires that we believe a single arsonist has been responsible for,”  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  According to a criminal complaint Miller admitted to using underwear stolen from area laundromats,  children’s swimsuits and rags to set nine fires.   A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.
