World War Two hero and Fond du Lac native James Megellas has died.   According to a Facebook post Megellas died peacefully in his sleep early this morning in Colleyville, Texas.  Megellas was 103.   Colonel Megellas is the most decorated officer in the history of the 82nd Airborne Division.    Last year Republican congressman Glenn Grothman introduced legislation to award Megellas the Congressional Medal of Honor for his courage during the Battle of the […]

4-3-20 nobody injured in workshop shed fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a tool shed in the town of Calumet. Firefighters were called to the scene on Artesia Beach Road Thursday afternoon for a report that a workshop detached from the residence was on fire. A preliminary investigation determined the property owner was using a blow torch near the structure when the fire accidentally started.  The workshop, which contained miscellaneous tools, sustained significant damage.
