4-22-20 governor evers declares state of emergency due to wildfire danger

Governor Tony Evers has declared a State of Emergency in response to elevated wildfire conditions throughout the state.  The order directs state agencies, including the Wisconsin National Guard,  to provide additional personnel and resources as needed to assist in wildfire prevention, emergency response and recovery operations.   There have been over 150 wildfires in Wisconsin DNR protection areas this year including a fire in Juneau County April 18 that burned more than 230 acres.

4-22-20 kolstad re-elected fdl city council president

Newly elected local officials were officially sworn into office during organizational meetings Tuesday night.  Arletta Allen is the newest member of the Fond du Lac city council.   Allen, along with incumbents, Kay Miller, Ben Giles and Donna Richards all ran unopposed in the spring election.  Brian Kolstad was re-elected council president and Miller is the council vice president.   Newly elected Fond du Lac County Board supervisors were sworn into  office at their meeting  Tuesday  night.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republicans who control the Wisconsin Legislature have asked the state Supreme Court to block an extension of the Democratic governor’s stay-at-home order. STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has officially canceled all spring high school sports in the state as the coronavirus pandemic rages on.
