A new Marquette Law School poll shows a wide variation on how Wisconsin residents feel about re-engaging in certain activities as the state reopens the economy. Poll director Charles Franklin says 77 percent said they would be comfortable visiting a friend or relative in their homes, 56 percent said they would be comfortable shopping in a mall. Forty five percent would be comfortable going to a worship service and 42 percent would be comfortable going out to eat at a restaurant. Only 25 percent would be comfortable going to a sporting event like a baseball, basketball or football game. “So it’s quite a range there and it obviously depends on how many people there are how close you are to them,” Franklin told AM 1170s Between the Lines program. The poll showed continued support for the way governor Tony Evers has been handling the matter. “Overall his handling gets a 64% approval, 32% disapproval. It was 76% to 17% in March,” Franklin said. Franklin says more people are satisfied with the governor compared to the legislature’s handling of the situation. “53% say the governor, 33% say the legislature,” Franklin said. “That’s certainly another example that executives have greater power in this in terms of the public. They’re more trusting of the governor than the legislature.”
