5-15-20 republican lawmaker from markesan concerned about people still waiting for unemployment checks

A Republican state lawmaker from Markesan says donations have been pouring in to area food pantries to help people who are laid off and still waiting for their unemployment checks.   State representative Joan Ballweg says she talked with the Green Lake Food Pantry earlier this week.  “Some of those folks are people that had good jobs and their unemployment just isn’t coming through,”  Ballweg told WFDL news.  Ballweg says she is concerned about reports that up to a third of people who have applied for unemployment benefits are still waiting.  “We hear from people calling into our office that have been waiting now for six plus weeks,”  Ballweg said.  “It’s really said to see especially those folks that are eligible that for whatever reason those applications just aren’t getting done.”
