5-6-20 covid-19 cases in fdl county increase

The number of COVID-19 cases in Fond du Lac County continues to rise.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says five new cases were reported Tuesday and one on Wednesday bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 84.   Sixty eight Fond du Lac County residents have recovered and there are 13 active cases according to the Public Health Department website.   Statewide there are 8,566 cases and 353 deaths. 5-6-20 fire damages fdl apartment unit

Nobody was injured in a Fond du Lac apartment fire.  Firefighters were called Tuesday to  691 E. Scott St for a report of a fire on a second floor balcony of an 8-unit apartment building. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. There was smoke and heat damage to the unit and smoke throughout the second floor.   All of the occupants were safely evacuated.   The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Conservative  justices who control the Wisconsin Supreme Court are raising questions about the legality of Gov. Tony Evers' administration's stay-at-home order. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Workforce is reporting that nearly 512,000 people have filed for unemployment since the coronavirus outbreak began in March. The latest figures track filings made through Monday. 5-6-20 private college closing for good in part due to coronavirus

A private Catholic college in Manitowoc says it will close for good, citing in part the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.  Holy Family College, formerly known as Silver Lake College, will lay off employees in June and eliminate any remaining jobs by the end of August.  The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sponsored Ministries announced the decision on Monday.
