5-29-20 fdl public safety referendum on hold

5-29-20 five pet dogs die in beaver dam fire

Several pet dogs died  in a fire that damaged a Beaver Dam home.  Shortly before 10am Thursday firefighters responded to a report of a house fire with multiple pet animals trapped inside a Gould Street residence.  Five dogs and a parrot died in the blaze.  The homeowner was not home when the fire broke out.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

5-28-20 waupun prison inmates test positive for covid-19

The state Department of Corrections says close to to 44 percent of inmates tested at the Waupun Correctional Institution have tested positive for coronavirus.  As of Wednesday, 73 inmates at Waupun had been tested. Of those, 32 were positive and 35 were negative.  The testing with help from the Wisconsin National Guard  began Tuesday and is expected to conclude Thursday.     Staff members are being tested as well.  As of Wednesday, seven staff […]

5-28-20 alliant energy investing in solar energy plants

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Alliant Energy says it’s buying about $900 million worth of new solar power plants in Wisconsin, making the utility company the largest solar operator in Wisconsin. The six projects are under development in Grant, Jefferson, Richland, Rock, Sheboygan and Wood counties. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Board has voted not to change the number of elk that hunters can kill in Wisconsin this year. The board voted Wednesday to set a 10-elk hunting limit. That is the same as it has been the past two years. Two more deaths have been reported in Fond du Lac County due to COVID-19.  There are now five deaths  in Fond du Lac County from the virus.  Longtime Fond du Lac attorney Steve Sager died May 17 due to complications from the virus.   He was 76.   Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says another county resident , a woman in her late 60s, died Tuesday night at St. Agnes Hospital.   Meanwhile, Mueller says  there are […]
