JEFFERSON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of two people killed in a double homicide and arson in southeastern Wisconsin. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Tony Evers is calling on the Wisconsin Legislature to pass a package of criminal justice reforms as the state celebrates Juneteenth. However, the Democratic governor hasn't ordered a special session for the Republican-controlled Legislature to take up the proposals. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin System regents' leader has selected former Gov. Tommy Thompson to serve as the system's interim president. The system announced Friday that Regent President Andrew Peterson has appointed Thompson to the post. Thompson will take over on July 1. A 37 year old  Fond du Lac man drowned in the Fond du Lac River.   Rescue personnel were called Thursday evening for a report of a man in the water in distress.    Witnesses say the man was fishing near the  Johnson Street bridge when he jumped in the river to swim across and  then went under the water.   The man was recovered in the river just south of the […]

One person was transported to the hospital for evaluation following a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac home.  Thursday afternoon firefighters were called to a residence at 30 Sunset Circle to find smoke coming from the roof of the house.  The fire was brought under control in about an hour. photo: fdl fire/rescue
