Fond du Lac County has recorded the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases in a weekend since the pandemic began. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there were 50 new cases reported over the weekend, including eight additional cases Friday afternoon, 33 cases Saturday and Sunday and nine Monday. There are 679 total positive cases in the county, 166 active cases, eight people are hospitalized and there have been seven deaths. Mueller says it’s the biggest weekend jump in positive cases since the pandemic started.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
