Nobody was injured and an assault and arson suspect is in custody following a standoff with Fond du Lac police. Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb says the police SWAT team was called to a residence in the 100 block of Ellis Street Tuesday morning for a report that the suspect was armed. Residents in the neighborhood were asked to shelter in place. Lamb told WFDL news the suspect has an extensive violent criminal history. Around 8:30am the suspect surrendered voluntarily and was taken into custody without incident.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
