8-20-20 fdl county board approves grant program to hire new sheriff’s deputies

The Fond  du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will be getting some extra patrol officers.  The county board has given the okay for a COPS Hiring grant program to fund three patrol deputy positions.  Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel says as the county population grows and the duties and technology changes its important to increase the capacity of the Sheriff’s Office.  Under the program in the first year the county would match 25 percent of the cost, 50 percent in the second year, 75-percent of the cost in the  third year with the county assuming the full cost in the fourth year.
