A Ripon man has been charged with providing heroin to a man who was found dead in the Fond du Lac River earlier this spring. Twenty six year old David Bresser made his initial Fond du Lac Court appearance this week on a charge of first degree reckless homicide in the death of 34 year old Robert Thorp. Thorp was found in the Fond du Lac River near South Street April 5. Bail for Bresser was set at $100,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 27.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
