The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies from across Wisconsin during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The stepped up enforcement effort to get drunken drivers off the road starts Friday and runs through Labor Day. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Dobyns says last year in Wisconsin there were more than six thousand alcohol-related crashes that injured more than 12900 people and resulted in 140 deaths. Dobyns says there have already been serious injury and fatal alcohol related crashes this year in Fond du Lac County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
