The latest statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Demographic Services Center shows the city of Fond du Lac’s population growth outpaced the state of Wisconsin over the past decade. According to the Center, the city of Fond du Lac’s population grew nearly 3%, outpacing the State of Wisconsin’s growth of 2.3%. For the City, this estimate represents an increase of 1,258 people since the 2010 Census and total population is estimated to be 44,279. Almost 70% of the population increase during the past decade occurred over the last five years.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
