A retired Ripon College political scientist says he hopes a change in format will result in a better exchange during the next presidential debate. Political scientist Marty Farrell says his initial impression is that neither candidate helped himself. Farrell says president Trump’s strategy appeared to be that Democrat Joe Biden is not fit to be in office. “But by being so hyper-aggressive, and interrupting, breaking the rules of the debate, he overplayed that hand and called attention to himself,” Farrell told WFDL news. On the other hand, Farrell says Biden did not give a strong performance under the pressure. “I think not a great deal. It was not going to be easy to handle, but he did not appear to be especially strong, he did not appear to be especially sharp,” Farrelll said. Farrell says he hopes the chaotic, bitter nature of the first debate may change with a Town Hall format in the next debate.
