Wisconsin health officials have reported nearly 1,700 new COVID-19 cases across the state. The state Department of Health Services reported 1,1696 newly confirmed cases on Monday, down from 1,865 on Sunday and a record 2,892 cases on Saturday. The state has now seen 134,359 cases since the pandemic began. The DHS reported four more people have died, bringing the death toll to 1,381. About 1.6 million people havenow been tested for the disease, about 27 percent of the state’s population. There were 51 new COVID1-9 cases in Fond du Lac County Monday after 100 cases over the weekend.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
