A retired Ripon College economist says the latest jobs numbers show the economic recovery is slowing.   The  U.S. economy added 661,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate fell from 8.4 to 7.9-percent.  But economist Paul Schoofs says one reason the unemployment rate declined was because Americans were leaving the labor force.  "That's another obvious sign of a slow down in the recovery,"  Schoofs told WFDL news.  "It's additional jobs, which is […]

10-5-20 mayville man who shot and injured three before shooting himself dies from injuries

Mayville police say the man who shot and injured three people outside an apartment complex last month before shooting himself has died from his injuries.  Police say 72 year old Dennis Tollkuehn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The incident happened September 16  outside the Spring Glen Apartments.   According to investigators two women and a man were in a parking lot when Tollkuehn approached and the group argued.    Tollkuehn shot the three individuals and […]
