Nobody was injured in a fire that caused significant smoke damage to a Fond du Lac County home The Saturday afternoon fire at N8161 Lakeshore Drive, was contained to a second story bedroom. Careless use of smoking materials appears to be the cause. No one was home at the time of the fire. Along with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Van Dyne Fire Department, North Fond du Lac Fire Department, Town of Fond du Lac Fire Department, Eldorado Fire Department, North Fond du Lac Ambulance and City of Fond du Lac Ambulance responded to the scene.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
