Starting this week the Fond du Lac County Public Health Office is offering free Radon Test kits. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says while supplies last the Health Department is offering a free radon test kit in exchange for a non-perishable food item that will be distributed to the local food pantry. Mueller says the only way to know if you have safe levels of radon inside your home is by testing. Mueller says Radon is an odorless, colorless, tasteless gas that occurs naturally in Wisconsin and can enter homes primarily through cracks in basement or foundation floors and walls.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
