todayNovember 16, 2020

Holy Family Catholic Community Director of Parish Operations Gail Kraig has been named as a recipient of the Vatican II – Service in Administration Award.
Established nearly 30 years ago, The Vatican II Awards recognize those in the Diocese  “who exemplify” the vision the Second Vatican Council ascribed for the Catholic Church, according to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Kraig has dedicated her life to the Catholic faith, holding roles in multiple capacities throughout the diocese. In addition to her work at Holy Family, she taught at  Presentation, St. Joseph, St. Mary, FACES, and St. Mary’s Springs High School, and at the latter, served as director of development, cheerleading coach, and director of  Music Liturgy Choir. In 2002, she became a consultant for the Archdiocese of
Milwaukee in Dodge, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan Counties, and went on to serve as principal at St. Mary School in West Bend and Milwaukee’s Catholic East Elementary.   In 2014, Kraig became Director of Advancement at Holy Family, later moving into the Director of Parish Operations role. There, she has played an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the parish and its development. She has steered multiple
projects, including the stained glass window campaign at Holy Family and the new Prayer Garden, as well as created the annual Gala Event and Servant Leadership Awards, and kicked off the Endowment Fund campaign.
“The Catholic faith is so rich and so deep, and I really love being a Catholic. I knew when I was four years old that that I wanted to do something that would serve our church. It has been a great honor and privilege to have had the opportunity to help  bring people closer to Jesus Christ. My career in ministry had been a great gift and one for which I am very grateful and with memories that I will always cherish,” Kraig
said.
Throughout her career, her focus has always remained on her family. She and her husband, Jeffrey, raised two daughters in Fond du Lac, and now are enjoying watching their four grandchildren grow.
The recognition comes as Kraig prepares to retire from her role of Director of  Operations at Holy Family Catholic Community in February 2021. Michelle Ludtke will
take over her position March 1, 2021.  Although typically winners of Vatican II Awards are recognized at a ceremony in
October, at this time, it has been postponed due to COVID-19.
