11-11-20 fdl county board approves budget

The Fond du Lac County Board has approved the 2021 budget.   County executive Al  Buechel  says the budget includes a slight reduction in the tax rate.  Buechel  says sales tax revenue is up  a little more than two percent.   For the first time in 20 years the county will be hiring three new Sheriff’s patrol deputies.  The positions will be initially funded with a federal COPS grant.  The County Board also […]

11-11-20 unemployment numbers

A retired Ripon College economist says the latest jobs numbers are welcome news.   The Labor Department reported Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by 638,000 and the unemployment rate was 6.9 percent.  Economist Paul Schoofs says it shows the economy is still rebounding.   That's good news, down from 7.9 percent .  A full percentage point drop is very good,"   Schoofs told WFDL news.  Meanwhile,  following the election, Schoofs says it’s looking […]
