KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — An Illinois teenager who is charged with shooting three people, including two fatally, during a Wisconsin protest over police brutality, said he used pandemic relief funds to pay for the assault-style rifle that a friend purchased for him. 11-20-20 wisconsin unemployment rate inches up in october

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s unemployment rate rose to 5.7% in October from 5.4% in September as the coronavirus continues to rage across the state. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reported the latest figures on Thursday. The state rate is below the national unemployment rate for October of 6.9%. 11-19-20 fire damages fdl home

Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries following an early morning fire that severely  damaged a Fond du Lac residence.   Firefighters rescued one person and a second victim escaped on their own from the two story, multiple tenant home at 159 West Arndt Street.  The fire caused extensive damage and the structure is uninhabitable. Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says public education, not mandates should the approach in addressing a rising number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Wisconsin.   There are now 35 COVID-19 deaths in Fond du Lac County following two deaths reported. After avoiding any officers getting sick from COVID-19 this spring or summer the Fond du Lac Police Department has not escaped the fall surge in cases.  Police chief Bill Lamb says since about the beginning of October several officers have been quarantined due to COVID-19.  Lamb says a couple weeks ago ten officers were out at one time in quarantine and last Friday that number was at three.  Lamb says […]

11-19-20 fdl county drive-thru testing site hours change

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is tweaking the hours at it’s drive-thru COVID testing site at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.  Starting Thursday the site will be open from 10am to 6pm, instead of 11 to 7pm.  More than 700 people were tested last Thursday.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there were 850 test kits available and 735 people received a test.
