There are three candidates running for three seats on the Waupun Common Council.  Incumbent Jason Westphal and challengers Rohn Bishop and William Langford have filed declaration of candidacy papers to run in the spring election.  Incumbents Ryan Mielke and Bobbie Vossekuil are not running for re-election.

The Fond du Lac city council will consider placing a public safety referendum on the April election ballot at their Wednesday meeting.  The referendum question will ask residents for permission to increase the $28.6 million tax levy on an ongoing basis by  $1.3 million to pay for six firefighter/paramedics and six police officers.  Council president Brian Kolstad says if the referendum passes the owner of a $100,000 home would see […]

An Ethics Board hearing scheduled for Friday for Fond du Lac city councilmember Ben Giles has been postponed.    The hearing will be rescheduled to give attorneys more time to prepare.   Last month the Board found probable cause that Giles violated three sections of the city’s Ethics Code:  Dedicated Service,  Fair and Equal Treatment and Conflict of Interest.  The decision to postpone follows  two separate developments in the last couple of weeks.  Oshkosh police completed an […]

(AP) — University of Wisconsin System officials are proposing that all of its 39,000 employees receive pay raises of 2% and 2.5% over the next two fiscal years, despite a projected $373 million deficit in the state’s general fund.
