The Waupun city administrator says COVID-19 will continue to be the biggest challenge for the city in the new year. “Nothing like we’ve ever seen before,” city administrator Kathy Schlieve told WFDL news. “I joked with some of my friends that had I known this was going to be part of my job I’m not sure I would have signed up for it.” Aside from the pandemic Kathy Schlieve says plans for 2021 include addressing cybersecurity issues in municipal government. Schlieve says the police department also hopes to be able to purchase body cameras this year. Schlieve says it’s also important for the community to continue to work to diversify it’s economic base.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
