Wisconsin health officials say a new, more contagious form of the COVID-19 virus has been detected in the state. The Department of Health Services says the variant was detected through routine genome sequencing of a specimens collected from a positive COVID-19 test in Eau Claire County. The Waupun Fire Chief says he’s ready to get his COVID-19 vaccine.  Police and firefighters are next in line to receive the vaccine, starting next week.  Waupun Fire Chief B.J DeMaa says it’s exciting that the vaccine is available.  "Yes, we'll be in line for that shot,"  DeMaa told WFDL news.  "It's an exciting day for police and firefighting agencies across the state."

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to keep their vehicle doors locked following a rash of vehicle thefts over the last several weeks.  The Sheriff’s Office says since December fifth there have been three vehicle thefts in the Lomira area.  Investigators believe individuals are targeting vehicles that are unlocked with keys hidden inside of them.  Investigators have also found that suspects have been looking for garage door openers inside of unlocked cars.  Many […]

1-14-21 fdl names new public works director

The city of Fond du Lac has a new Public Works director.  City manager Joe Moore says Paul DeVries has been hired to the post.  DeVries has been the city engineer for the past ten years.  He replaces Jordan Skiff who resigned at the end of December after accepting the city administrator job in Plymouth.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — Aspirus Health is buying Ascension hospitals, clinics and transport services in central and northern Wisconsin. The Wausau-based health care provider says it will acquire seven hospitals, 21 physician clinics and Spirit Medical Transport from Ascension. The acquisition includes hospitals in Eagle River, Merrill, Woodruff, Stanley, Tomahawk, Rhinelander and Stevens Point. No terms were disclosed.
