2-4-21 stimulus checks-impact

As congress debates issuing a third round of federal stimulus checks to millions of Americans, economists are trying to assess just how effective they are in helping the economy during the pandemic.   Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says research shows while helping keep some families afloat, households earning more money have tended to put the money into savings.  With some lawmakers concerned about the size of the package, Schoofs  says it may be wise to cap the eligibility level of the next round of stimulus checks.
