2-16-21 unusually high number of speeding citations in fdl county

A Fond du Lac County Circuit Court judge is reporting an unusually high number of speeding tickets recently.  Judge Peter Grimm says for three intake weeks, while calling traffic tickets for the State Patrol and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office there were 23 speeding tickets issued for 25 mph or higher over the posted speed limit.  Thirteen of the tickets were issued to women, and 18 to persons under […]

2-15-21 snowmobile fatality-fdl county

A 25 year old man was killed in a snowmobile crash in Fond du Lac County. It happened Saturday near Sunny Knoll and Dixon Roads near Brandon when the snowmobile operator struck a tree.  He was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

2-15-21 dodge county huber inmate walkaway captured

A Huber Inmate walk away in Dodge County has been arrested.  Forty year old  David Pirtle was arrested Saturday by Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies.   Pirtle was serving a Huber sentence on GPS electronic monitoring for Operating While Intoxicated and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer when he failed to return to the Dodge County Jail earlier this month.

2-15-21 driver injured in dodge county rollover crash

One person received serious, but non life-threatening injuries in a one vehicle rollover crash in Dodge County.  The crash happened Saturday afternoon  on STH 33 east of Idaho Road  when a Jeep SUV failed to negotiate a curve, struck an embankment and overturned.  The 60 year old driver was transported to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee.

2-15-21 sturgeon spectacular

Area residents braved frigid weather for the sixth annual Sturgeon Spectacular in downtown Fond du Lac over the weekend.  Fond du Lac Festivals director Pete Wilke says in addition to food and music, the event featured the Wisconsin state snow sculpting competition  a curling tournament, virtual sturgeon show-off station and first ever sturgeon Olympics.

2-15-21 relief from bitter cold in sight

Wisconsin was in the deep freeze over the weekend, but finally there is relief in sight.   National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Wagner says this weekend was almost a carbon copy of last weekend with some snow and overnight lows in the double-digits below zero with dangerously cold windchills.  Wagner says the good news is temperatures will be climbing back closer to normal this week.  High temperatures are forecast close to […]

2-15-21 coronavirus takes toll on state transportation fund

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report says the coronavirus has taken its toll on Wisconsin’s transportation fund, the state’s primary source for road and infrastructure projects. The nonpartisan Wisconsin Policy Forum reported the top two revenue sources for the fund, fuel taxes and vehicle registration fees, fell short of projections by more than $116 million in fiscal year 2020. (AP) — The state Department of Natural Resources says it will propose a harvest quota of 200 wolves when the the group’s policy board meets Monday to discuss launching a wolf hunt immediately. The agency considered several factors in coming up with the number.
