3-5-21 wisconsin wolf hunt

todayMarch 5, 2021

The head of a pro-wolf group says the DNR should have halted a wolf hunt last week earlier to prevent hunters from exceeding the state kill target.   The DNR says hunters killed more than 200 wolves, exceeding the target by nearly 100 animals.  Melissa Smith with Wisconsin Wolves and Wildlife  says she also questions DNR officials who say they don’t believe the hunt jeopardizes the overall wolf population.  The DNR estimates about 1,000 wolves roam the state.  Applications will be taken starting next week for another hunt planned for this fall.
