The Envision Greater Fond du Lac Board of directors is on record in support of the Public Safety Referendum. The April referendum would add six new police officers and six new firefighter/paramedics. Envision president Sadie Parafiniuk says both fire and police have not had staff increases over the past several years despite seeing calls for service increase during that same time.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
