3-18-21 ripon dispatch consolidating with fdl county

3-18-21 fdl county land conservation building moving

The Fond  du Lac County Land and Water Conservation Department is going to be moving to a new location.  The county board has approved a resolution to purchase a strip mall building near Fleet Farm for $1 million to relocate the Department.   County executive Al Buechel says the Department is running out of space at it’s current location on the West Frontage Road.  Buechel says purchasing the building is less expensive than leasing.

3-18-21 local unemployment rate up

The local unemployment rate is up  in the latest reporting period.   According to the state Department of Worforce Development the Dodge County unemployment rate in January was four percent, up from 3.4 percent in December.   In Fond du Lac County the unemployment rate increased four-tenths of a percent to 3.8 percent.  The jobless rate in the city of Fond du Lac was 4.1 percent in January,  up from 3.6 percent in December.

3-18-21 wisconsin man kills co-workers at supermarket distribution center

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A union official says a worker at a supermarket distribution center near Milwaukee shot and killed two co-workers. Thomas Bennett, secretary-treasurer of General Teamsters Local Union No. 200 said Wednesday that the shootings happened Tuesday night in different locations inside the Roundy’s distribution center in Oconomowoc, about 30 miles west of Milwaukee.
