OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — A man who pleaded no contest to fatally stabbing a retired police captain in Oshkosh has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Twenty-nine-year-old Ian Suzuki was also given ten years of extended supervision during sentencing Monday in Winnebago County. BARABOO, Wis. (AP) — The first whooping crane hatched at the International Crane Foundation in Wisconsin has died. Foundation officials say the crane, named Gee Whiz, died on Feb. 24 and was more than 38 years old. The oldest captive whooping crane was 46 years old. There may be fewer metro areas in the U.S. in the near future and Fond du Lac is on the list. The federal government is proposing to downgrade 144 cities from the metropolitan statistical area designation including Fond  du Lac, Oshkosh and Sheboygan. 3-10-21 fdl county sheriff says jail covid-19 outbreak is over

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff says all of the inmates who contracted  COVID-19 during an outbreak in the county jail last month have fully recovered.  Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the outbreak remained contained to two dorms where it was initially reported, and did not spread to other dorms or housing units within the jail.   Seventeen of the 19 inmates who tested positive were asymptomatic.  Waldschmidt says there is currently  one inmate of the […]
