4-6-21 fdl county judge’s race highlights county races

todayApril 6, 2021

The Fond du Lac County Clerk says the race for circuit court judge appears to be the big countywide race on Tuesday’s election ballot.  Green Lake County District attorney and former Fond du Lac County Assistant DA, Andrew Christenson is running against Fond du lac attorney Laura Lavey for the seat being vacated by retiring judge Richard Nuss.  There is big spending in the race.  The Wisconsin Examiner reports that Christenson has pumped more than $100,000 of his money into the campaign through personal loans and in-kind donations, spending nearly $70,000 on a Madison-based Republican consulting firm.  County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says there are a handful of races in some municipalities and townships where write-in candidates will be elected.  Freiberg says there are only two people running for three village of Campbellsport trustee positions, and in the town of Osceola the treasurer’s name will appear on the ballot even though she has moved out of the district and is no longer running for re-election. There are two registered write-in candidates for the Rosendale Brandon School Board after a board member resigned even though his name is still on the ballot.   Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel has received the endorsements of former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson along with the Fond du lac County Sheriff and District Attorney. Freiberg is predicting a voter turnout countywide of close to 30 percent or slightly higher.
