As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 variants continue to spike in Wisconsin the Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer is continuing to urge residents to wear masks. The number of COVID-19 variant cases spiked dramatically last week from the previous week, with nearly 150 cases of these strains now being identified in Wisconsin. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says even though the state Supreme Court struck down the statewide mask mandate residents should still wear masks.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
