A former Waupun alderman has been elected to the common council. Rohn Bishop defeated Zach Dickhut in the race for the open Fifth aldermanic seat in Tuesday’s election 270 to 224 votes. Bishop says he is “honored and humbled.” Bishop last served on the council in the early 2000s and is currently the chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du lac County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
