An Ethics complaint has been filed against newly elected Fond du Lac city councilmember Patrick Mullen centering around his involvement in a lawsuit filed against the city by a citizens group regarding the Lakeside Park alternate master plan. The complaint alleges Mullen was the beneficiary of funds raised by the Friends of Lakeside Park to help with legal fees in a lawsuit in which Mullen and the Friend’s group were co-petitioners. The complaint says Mullen should therefore abstain from all votes regarding the park until the Ethics Board completes an investigation. Mullen was not on the council at the time and told WFDL news the city attorney has assured him there is no conflict of interest.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
