(AP) — University of Wisconsin students who get vaccinated for COVID-19 will no longer have to be tested weekly for the virus under a policy that interim President Tommy Thompson calls an incentive to bolster vaccination rates on campus. 4-8-21 fdl county covid-19 cases-children

The Fond du Lac  County Public Health Officer says a handful of the new positive COVID-19 cases from Wednesday were children.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says three of the nine positive cases Wednesday were children not eligible to be vaccinated at this time.  Mueller says that’s why it’s important for people who are eligible to get vaccinated.  Five people are currently hospitalized in Fond du Lac County with COVID-19.

As traffic begins to pick up across the country with increased vaccinations and decreased pandemic restrictions, the auto group club AAA reminds drivers about focusing on the road ahead and not their smartphones.   April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.   State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says distracted driving crashes kill nine people per day.
