4-27-21 fdl police pedestrian-bicycle safety grant

The Fond du Lac Police Department will be stepping up patrol for bicycle and pedestrian safety.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the Department has received a grant from the Department of Transportation Safety for the concentrated patrol effort.  The concentrated overtime patrol will focus on the downtown and by schools where there are more pedestrians and kids on bikes.

4-27-21 safe restart plan update

The Fond du Lac County Health Department’s Safe Restart Plan has moved forward into the next phase.   Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the plan follows metrics regarding COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations.  Mueller says now that vaccine is widely available to everyone, under the county’s Safe Restart plan businesses like restaurants are able to be open at full capacity.  Previously the capacity limit was 75 percent under the Restart Plan.  There have […]

4-27-21 wisconsin attorney general reaches settlement on manure spills

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Attorney General Josh Kaul has reached a $242,000 settlement to resolve pollution violations resulting from manure spills in 2017 and 2019. The state Justice Department announced the settlements with K&D Manure Handling, Inc. and Wild Rose Dairy LLC on Monday. They were brokered earlier this month. State attorneys alleged K&D and Wild Rose caused spills in Otter Creek in Vernon County, resulting in fish kills. They […]

4-26-21 fdl school board to offer contract to new superintendent

The Fond du Lac School Board is expected to approve a contract with a new Superintendent at their meeting Monday evening.   Last month the board selected South Milwaukee High School  Principal Dr. Jeffrey Fleig to  be the District’s next superintendent.   Under the contract Dr. Fleig’s starting salary will be $167,500.   Dr. Fleig has been the Principal of South Milwaukee High School in the South Milwaukee School District since 2019.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin fishery officials say more tournaments are abandoning their traditional catch-hold-release formats.
